Woodcarving Art

A Journey of
Craftsmanship

Woodcarving has always been an integral part of my life journey that began when I was a Boy Scout in pursuit of a woodworking merit badge. - EIF

For over six decades, Professor Edgar I. Farmer has expressed his innate gift of storytelling through the shaping and sculping from his hands. His medium, lumber of oak, walnut, mahogany, and now an exploration into bark, serves as the pages for his life’s adventures to be told. As audiences explore his work they see a reflection of the universal human experience, our connection to one another, and a celebration of women as the foundational force of generational strength.

THE QUEEN
COLLECTION

Carving to create images from various types of wood has been a source of inspiration for me allowing the character of the wood to reveal a particular image. Many of my pieces were inspired by my travels to Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.

The Legacy Collection

From the historic vault of Edgar’s early carvings, comes a collection of pieces that are dedicated to life milestones.

The Bark Collection

Looking into the grains of the tree, a face was revealed.
